ToT on “Operational Guideline for District & Sub-district Nutrition Coordination Committee”

“There is no alternative to concerted efforts to improve the nutrition situation”, said by Dr. Md. Shah Newaz, Director General, Bangladesh National Nutrition Council, while he chaired as Chief Guest of the closing ceremony of a three-day residential training of trainer workshop on operational guideline for District and Sub-district Nutrition Coordination Committee (DNCC & UNCC) held at RDRS, Rangpur on last 13th February,2020. He further added that the Government of Bangladesh has already taken the necessary steps to achieve the target for nutrition goal by 2021.

Considering National Nutrition Policy, the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh is implementing the National Plan of Action for Nutrition 2016-2025. A nutrition coordination committee has been formed in all district and upazila (sub-district) levels to implement the nutrition plan called DNCC & UNCC. Following this guideline, CARE Bangladesh is working as an external facilitator and providing support to operationalize these committees through its different projects.



The objective was to orient operational guideline on nutrition coordination committees, so that, staffs will able to understand how to use the guideline to functionalize these committees (DNCC, UNCC) at practical ground. Through the technical support of Bangladesh National Nutrition Council, CARE Bangladesh’s different projects working under food and nutrition security were engaged in this training.

Dr. Hiramaba Kumar Roy, District Civil Surgeon and Member Secretary of District Nutrition Coordination Committee, Rangpur and Dr. Ikhtiar Uddin Khandaker, Director-Health Programs, CARE Bangladesh were also attended as special guests during the closing ceremony of this three-day training event. Among others Tania Sharmin, Senior Team Leader-JANO Project and Dr. Khan Tawhid Pervez-Senior Technical Coordinator-Nutrition-SHOUHARDO-III program were presented.




Dr. Akhtar Imam-Deputy Director, Bangladesh National Nutrition Council was the trainer in assistance with Nazneen Rahman-Team Leader, M Hafizul Islam, Senior Technical Coordinator-Advocacy and Capacity Building and Md. Hasannuzaman- Program Manager of CI4N, CARE Bangladesh. Field level managers of CARE Bangladesh projects including- SHOUHARDO-III, MSNP, JANO were participated in this training of trainers. Besides CARE staffs some participants from partner NGOs, such as Plan International, ESDO (Eco Social Development Organization), DAM (Dhaka Ahsania Mission), NDP (National Development Program), POPI(People’s Oriented Program Implementation), MJSKS (Mahideb Jubo Somaj Kallayan Somity), SKS (Somaj Kallayan Sangstha) were also participated.
