CARE Bangladesh signed MoU with Robi to develop women entrepreneurs in the north

On August 4, CARE Bangladesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Robi Axiata Limited (Robi), one of the leading mobile operators to help develop the capacity of a group of adolescent girls from Kurigram district in the area of retailing mobile-based service products. The signing is a part of the CARE Bangladesh’s IMAGINE project. Funded by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the four -year project aims to delay the birth of the first child of married adolescent girls, aged 15 to 19 years, by minimum 6 months through group formation, training and counselling interventions.



IMAGINE stands for Inspiring Married Adolescent Girls to Imagine New Empowered Futures that is being currently implemented in Kurigram.

 Zia Choudhury, Country Director of CARE Bangladesh and Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, Managing Director/ CEO of Robi signed the MoU. Other senior officials from CARE Bangladesh and Robi were also present at the ceremony held at Robi Corporate HQ in Gulshan, Dhaka. Humaira Aziz, Lovely Yeasmin Jeba, Biswajit Mondal, Sudeb Kumar Das, Fazlul Hoque, and Hillol Sobhan attended the event on behalf of CARE Bangladesh while Pradeep Shrivastava, Mohammed Shahedul Alam, A.S.M. Enayetur Rahim and Md. Towfiquzzaman Chowdhury represented Robi Axiata.
