CARE Bangladesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh National Nutrition Council (BNNC) at CARE Bangladesh Dhaka Office on November 6, 2018. The signing ceremony was chaired by Zia Choudhury Country Director of CARE Bangladesh and Dr. Md. Shah Nawaz, Director General, Bangladesh National Nutrition Council present as Chief Guest. The event was also attended by senior officials from BNNC including Dr. Hasan Mahmud, Assistant Director, Dr. Nazmus Salehin, Assistant Director, Dr. Naima Sultana, Assistant Director, Dr. Rezwan Ahmed, Assistant Director along with CARE members including Prabodh Devkota, Assistant Country Director - Program, Dr. Jahangir Hossain, Program Director- Health Unit, Mehrul Islam, Director of PEARL (Program, Evidence, Advocacy, Research and Learning) Unit and other senior officials from CARE. By 2019, Bangladesh Government has committed to creating platforms known as District Nutrition Coordination Committee (DNCC) and Upazila Nutrition Coordination Committee (UNCC). The aim of establishing these platforms is to ensure universal quality health assistance to all the people of Bangladesh especially to the rural and underserved citizens. CARE Bangladesh is going to assist BNNC to operationalize multi-sectoral platforms at district and sub district level across the country especially where CARE Bangladesh is implementing nutrition specific projects. CARE Bangladesh will be supporting BNNC for facilitating the progress of Multi-sectoral Nutrition Platforms (MSNP) by providing operational guideline, training manual, building a national resource pool for rolling out the training, helping to identify & capacity building of potential NGOs for the implementation phase in this particular approach. Zia Choudhury, Country Director of CARE Bangladesh thanked the DG and the Government of Bangladesh for this collaborative initiative with CARE Bangladesh and hope that the partnership between the Government of Bangladesh and CARE will continue to strengthen to achieve national nutritional goals.
