Project Synopsis

USAID Bijoyee project (Bijoyee) is a five-year project, launched in 2023 to empower youth (18-35 years), particularly young women and socially excluded young people. The goal of the project is to ensure that youth have the market-ready soft skills and access to relevant technical skills to gain employment or become entrepreneurs. The project will also build the capacity of local youth-led and serving organizations to equip them better to increase youth participation in civic engagement and make them active and contributing citizens of Bangladesh. Special emphasis is placed on climate change and resilience.

Projects Coverage

Dhaka division (Dhaka, Munshiganj, Manikganj, Gazipur, Narayanganj), 

Chattogram division (Chattogram, Khagrachhari, Bandarban, Cox's Bazar)

Khulna division (Magura, Jashore, Satkhira, Khulna)

Rangpur division (Kurigram, Rangpur, Nilphamari)

Rajshahi division (Bogura) and Mymensingh Division (Sherpur).

Achievements and Milestones

Expected Result:

250,000 youth trained in soft skills

Expected Result:

60% of trained youth with increased income/career progression

Expected Result:

6,000 youth entrepreneurs starting/expanding businesses

Expected Result:

500 youth entrepreneurs/ YLOs received grants for conducting civic engagement, social entrepreneurship, and climatepreneurship

Moment from USAID Bijoyee Launching Event

United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director Reed Aeschliman, CARE Bangladesh Country Director Ramesh Singh, and others joined the honorable Director General of the Department of Youth Development Dr. Gazi Md. Saifuzzaman, to launch the new five-year, $35 million USAID Bijoyee Project to provide youth with skills-building opportunities to help them advance their careers and modernize the country’s workforce. The Bijoyee project is implemented by CARE Bangladesh with partners from youth-led and youth-serving organizations, and the private sector to equip up to 250,000 young Bangladeshis ages 18-35 with marketable job skills that better meet the needs of employers or become entrepreneurs in a fast-paced business environment.
