Project Synopsis

Women Thrive in Bangladesh project is a PVH supported initiative in Bangladesh implemented by CARE Bangladesh to economically empower women workers by promoting decent work, leadership, and dignity in the workplace. The project strengthens women’s skills, resilience, and collective voice while encouraging institutions and workplaces to respond more effectively to gender equality and social compliance. Through the P.A.C.E. (Personal Advancement and Career Enhancement) program, Thrive aimed to reach 13200 women workers in 45 plus PVH supply chain factories and adjacent communities through leadership development, skills, and interventions for career advancement. Securing better jobs, higher wages and women friendly work environment are the intended outcome of the project.

Goal: Economically empower women by creating decent work and ensuring a life of dignity.

Objectives:

  1. Enhanced skills, leadership, and collective action for greater security of life and livelihoods.

  2. Increased responsiveness of institutions to address gender equality in the world of work.

Jannatul’s Journey from Operator to Supervisor

Jannatul Ferdous from Jessore grew up facing financial hardship after her family separated. Determined to support her family, she continued her education while working and later moved to Gazipur in search of better opportunities. In 2019, she joined Metro Knitting & Dying in Savar as a helper and participated in the P.A.C.E. training under the Thrive initiative. The training strengthened her communication, time management, and leadership skills, transforming her confidence and workplace performance. Recognized for her dedication, Jannatul was promoted to supervisor in 2023. She now saves regularly, contributes to family decisions, and dreams of opening an online dress business in the future.
